Made With Care, Made to Last, Made for You
Most wall art ships from a single warehouse thousands of miles away, spending days bouncing through customs and transit. Not ours. We do things differently, and we want to be straight with you about exactly how.
The Sparkycare Production Model
Every Sparkycare piece is made to order, produced locally, and built from materials chosen with intention. We don't keep warehouses of unsold prints sitting on shelves. Your piece is created at the moment you order it, at the production facility closest to your delivery address.
That choice has consequences we like. No mass production means no surplus inventory heading to landfill. Local production means your art travels a shorter distance to reach you, which reduces both transit time and carbon footprint. 90% of our orders arrive within 5 days. No customs fees. No long waits wondering where your package is.
This isn't a tradeoff we apologize for. It's a brand choice we made on purpose, because we think art shouldn't be mass-produced and warehoused. Every Sparkycare piece exists because someone wanted it on their wall. That feels right to us.
FSC-Certified Materials Where Wood Is Part of the Story
When we talk about FSC-certified materials, we're naming actual specifics, not waving a generic green flag. Here's what that looks like across our product range.
Framed Prints. Our 14mm framed prints are crafted in FSC-certified solid pine wood with shatterproof plexiglass on the front and ready-to-hang hardware on the back. Step up to the 20mm Premium frame and the wood gets denser. FSC-certified oak hardwood on the Natural Wood frame, or FSC-certified ash hardwood on Black and White frames. Same archival paper inside. Different woods for different looks.
Canvas and Framed Canvas. Our canvases stretch over FSC-certified wood stretcher bars. Gallery-grade, built for the long run. Framed Canvas adds an FSC-certified poplar or pine float frame, creating that elegant gap between the canvas and the frame that gallery hanging is known for.
Wood Prints. When we print directly onto wood, we're printing on FSC-certified birch wood. The natural birch grain shows through the lighter areas of your design, adding warmth and organic character paper or canvas can't deliver. Both the 10mm and 20mm thicknesses use the same FSC-certified birch substrate.
An honest note on our metal, acrylic, and foam options. Not every Sparkycare format uses wood, and we're not going to pretend otherwise. Our Aluminum and Brushed Aluminum prints use Aluminum DIBOND®, a rigid composite of two thin white aluminum layers sandwiching a black polyethylene core. Our Acrylic prints are 4mm cast acrylic with standoff mounting. Our Foam prints use a solid PVC panel with a protective UV film, in either a white or black edge finish. For these formats, FSC certification doesn't apply, so we don't claim it. The made-to-order and local-production framing is the entire sustainability story for these substrates, and we think that's enough.
What We Don't Do
This part is unusual for a sustainability page, but we think it matters. Plenty of brands stretch sustainability claims well past what they can actually verify. We're trying not to.
We don't call our products "eco-friendly." That word means something different to every person who reads it, and most uses of it are marketing varnish over an ordinary product. We don't claim to be "planet-positive." We're a wall art brand. We sell things, and selling things has a cost, even when we make those things responsibly. We don't claim to be "carbon-neutral" because we haven't paid for the audit and offset paperwork that would let us say so honestly.
What we do claim is what we've named on this page. Made-to-order production with no surplus inventory. A local production network across 140+ facilities in 32 countries. FSC certification on our wood-based materials where wood is part of the build. Honest framing for the rest.
If sustainability honesty matters to you, we want you to know what you're actually getting. Confidence, not virtue signaling. That's the rule we wrote for ourselves.
The 140+ Facility Local Production Network
Our global production network spans more than 140 facilities across 32 countries. When you place an order, it routes to the facility closest to your delivery address. That's not a perk we charge for. That's the whole production model.
The logic behind it is straightforward. A poster shipped from one US warehouse to a customer in Berlin has to cross an ocean and clear customs. The same poster produced at a Berlin facility and shipped locally crosses a city. Shorter distance means less fuel, fewer surface days, fewer customs surprises, and a piece that arrives in better condition. The carbon math follows the same logic.
It also means we don't have a single flagship warehouse to brag about. We have a network. Your piece is made near you, by people who do this every day in your region, using the same archival inks and the same material specs we use everywhere else.
Made-to-Order vs Mass Production
Conventional wall art retail runs on mass production. A factory prints thousands of copies of a popular design, ships them to warehouses, and waits for them to sell. Designs that don't sell get discounted, returned, or sent to landfill. The carbon and material cost of the unsold copies is part of the price of the ones that do sell, even if no one shows it on the receipt.
Made-to-order skips that whole chain. We don't print a piece until someone buys it. There's no surplus to write off because there's no surplus to begin with. The tradeoff is the short wait between when you order and when your piece ships, usually 1 to 4 business days of processing. We think that's a fair exchange for not making things nobody asked for.
It also lets us carry a wide catalog. Designs that find a smaller, devoted audience aren't penalized by inventory minimums, so we can keep them available longer. The catalog gets to be deep without needing to be commercially safe.
Sustainability FAQs
Are Sparkycare wall art products eco-friendly?
We don't use the word "eco-friendly" because it doesn't mean anything specific. Here's what we do say: every Sparkycare piece is made to order, so there's no surplus inventory or overproduction. Production happens at the facility closest to your delivery address, which reduces shipping distance. Wood-based formats use FSC-certified materials. Read that and decide for yourself.
What does FSC-certified mean for my wall art?
FSC stands for Forest Stewardship Council. An FSC-certified product is built from wood sourced from forests managed to standards covering forest health, biodiversity, and the rights of workers and communities tied to those forests. For Sparkycare, that means our pine frames, oak and ash hardwood frames, canvas stretcher bars, Framed Canvas float frames, and birch Wood Print substrate all come from FSC-certified sources.
Why is your shipping time 5 days instead of next-day?
Because we don't print your piece until you order it. There's a 1 to 4 business day production window before your order ships, and 90% of our orders arrive within 5 days from order to doorstep. The short wait is exactly the time it takes to make your piece well at the facility closest to you. We think that beats a warehouse of unsold prints sitting on a shelf.
Do you ship sustainably?
Our production model is local, which is the part of shipping we can actually influence. Orders route to the facility closest to your delivery address across a network of 140+ facilities in 32 countries. That keeps transit distance short and reduces the carbon load of getting your piece to you. We don't run a single-warehouse model that ships every order around the world.
Which Sparkycare wall art products use FSC-certified wood?
The framed prints use FSC-certified pine on the 14mm frame and FSC-certified oak or ash hardwood on the 20mm Premium frame, with oak on the Natural Wood frame and ash on Black and White frames. The canvas line uses FSC-certified wood stretcher bars, and the Framed Canvas adds an FSC-certified poplar or pine float frame. The Wood Print line uses an FSC-certified birch wood substrate at both 10mm and 20mm thicknesses.
Are your metal and acrylic prints sustainable too?
They're made to order and produced locally, like everything else we sell, but they don't use wood, so FSC certification doesn't apply. We could stretch and say "recyclable aluminum" or "lasts decades, not landfill," and plenty of brands do, but those aren't claims we've verified for our specific products. The made-to-order and local-production framing is the honest sustainability story for these formats.
Do you use recycled materials?
Our archival paper is acid-free and built for longevity, but we don't make a recycled-content claim because the specs vary by paper line. Our FSC-certified wood materials come from responsibly managed forests, which is a different sustainability angle from recycled content. If recycled content is the primary thing you're shopping for, we want you to know that upfront so you can make the right call.
What's your packaging like?
Packaging varies by product and country of production. In general, we use protective film on glossy surfaces, bubble wrap and kraft paper for cushioning, and rigid edge protection for frames and rigid panels. Specific packaging materials are determined at the production facility level. If you have a specific packaging requirement, send us a note at contact@sparkycare.com before you order.
